Reigning Champion quickest in FP1 at Donington

Kawasaki Puccetti Racing rider Kenan Sofuoglu set the fastest lap in the first session on Friday at Donington Park, with the Turk leading GRT rider Gino Rea and CIA Landlord Insurance Honda’s Kyle Smith. Under sunny skies at the British track, Randy Krummenacher, Sofuoglu’s rookie teammate, locked out P4 in his first ride at Donington on a WorldSSP machine, with Italian Alex Baldolini in P5 just ahead of Honda’s PJ Jacobsen in P6. Jacobsen suffered a lowside crash in the session when on a hot lap, with impressive pace for the American before the small mistake.

Malaysian winner Ayrton Badovini continued his impressive phase of settling in in P7, ahead of more home talent as Profile Racing’s Luke Stapleford took P8 on his Triumph. Stapleford had an impressive finish in 2015 as a wildcard at Donington and will be satisfied with a good first session.

Roberto Rolfo kept himself inside the top ten in P9, ahead of MV Agusta Reparto Corse’s title contender Jules Cluzel. Cluzel suffered a small technical problem in the session that hindered the Buriram winner’s first contact with the British circuit in 2016.

WorldSSP will be back on track for FP2 later in the day, as the home heroes fight the podium regulars for entry into Tissot-Superpole on Saturday 28th. The WorldSSP Race in the one off schedule for Donington then begins at 12:00pm local time (GMT +1) on Sunday 29th.
